The annual SBC Awards will be taking place on December 7th in London this year with one notable difference from 2015; there’s now a Best Esports Betting Operator category.

This year has seen an explosion in regulated esports betting, as well as a serious crackdown and fallout on skins wagering. Only this year has it become more surprising if a major operator doesn’t offer esports markets than if they do, and some are investing heavily into trying to get this right.

The debate has been whether to integrate esports into a sportsbook or whether to launch a standalone platform. The upcoming League of Legends Worlds should generate a considerable amount of betting with the best teams facing off in group stages followed by knockout rounds and the grand final in Los Angeles.

Betradar is one of the main suppliers in esports betting, and has established a relationship with ESL to try to eliminate match fixing and bad practice too. It has confirmed that it will sponsor the Esports Betting Operator category at SBC Awards at Under the Bridge, the £20m music and events space built alongside Stamford Bridge, in December.

Sportradar’s Director of Communications Alex Inglot said: “Having sponsored the recent Betting on Sports Conference we jumped on the opportunity to become one of the primary sponsors of December’s SBC Awards.

“There are a number of awards up for grabs, and making its inaugural appearance is the Esports Betting Operator of the Year. The amount of operators offering esports has exploded in 2016 and via its partnership with ESL and its esports betting solutions Sportradar has been one of the leading suppliers in ensuring this new market comes into prominence. We’re excited to see who takes the SBC crown!”

Operators can apply here and now to be considered for Esports Betting Operator of the Year, in addition to 14 other categories such as Rising Star in Sports Betting, Best Marketing Campaign and more.

Esports Insider says: Calling the best esports betting operator is a tough one with the vast majority still very much in the finding their feet stages of offering regulated esports wagering. Tweet us at @esportsinsider_ to let us know who you think deserves the award this year!
