Formula E, Las Vegas and the $1 million prize pool

Formula E has revealed further exciting details about its esports race in Las Vegas which’ll see drivers fight it out for a prize fund of $1 million (£753,000).

As part of the Sports Business Innovation Summit at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this coming January, the 20 drivers Formula E drivers from this season will be pitted against each other on the rFactor 2 game.

These drivers will also be joined by 10 fans who will have the opportunity to win a place on the grid via the ‘Road to Las Vegas Challenge’ scheme. You can read more about this by clicking here.

Alejandro Agag,Formula E CEO, first announced the event at the London ePrix weekend back in July. This won’t be the first time that Formula E has teamed up with esports; a handful of drivers went head to head at each race weekend in a virtual race during season two.

Agag said of the news: “Formula E takes one more giant step in engaging with our fans.

“Gamers from all over the world will be able to participate in the ‘Road to Vegas Challenge’ and earn themselves the opportunity to race against the Formula E drivers in a unique eRace.
