This one’s for you Swiss esports fans.

UPC Switzerland has launched a new esports platform, eSports.ch, which will report on the growing industry and news from the major titles with a focus on Switzerland. The site is currently available in German and French.

There appears to be an audience for such a platform with 750,000 Swiss people following gaming live streams on Twitch. In addition to both news and insights, there will be reports and updates on how Swiss players perform in international tournaments.

The content team is comprised of active players which should make it particularly appealing for fans and fellow players, both amateur and professional, alike. UPC is Switzerland’s largest broadband provider and was founded in 1994.

One part of eSports.ch which looks set to be amongst its most engaging is the Spotlight show. This will feature four hosts presenting the news in German and French.

UPC Switzerland CEO, Eric Tveter, stated: “Today we operate the most powerful and future-proof network in Switzerland based on optical fibre cable, which we have built up without public money and in a non-discriminatory manner for urban and rural areas alike. We already have the most customers with a superfast Internet connection in Switzerland.

“This investment in the network makes an important contribution to the development of an open digital society in Switzerland, from which gamers can also benefit.”

Esports Insider: A platform aimed specifically at Swiss fans should resonate with them. This is similar to what the British eSports Association is in the process of launching, and what esportsnewsUK has had going on for the scene in Great Britain for some time.
