PSG Esports and PMU announced a new partnership agreement late last week.
PMU, one of the most established French betting companies, recently launched its esports brand, PMU eSport, and with this deal the two brands have now expanded their relationship beyond football and into esports. PMU has sponsored Paris Saint Germain for over six years.
Dot Esports reported on Saturday that PMU informed them that the terms of this deal included a six figure sum.
PMU eSport aims to involve itself in the statistics side of esports and will ‘channel its core business to support Paris Saint-Germain eSports players in competitions, as well as offering fans and organisers statistical content to enrich their gaming experience’.
PMU’s Marketing Director Samuel Loiseau stated: “We were already partners with Paris Saint-Germain on the football side and we are proud to extend our partnership and join the club in its ambitious esports project. We share the same ambition to become key players in the sector. PMU will also be partnering with numerous esports events in France all year round.”
Fabien Allègre, Paris Saint-Germain’s Director of Merchandising and Brand Diversification, added: “The agreement with PMU marks a turning point in the development of our esports project. We are delighted to have gained the confidence of such a major player in sport within just a few months of our launch. I am convinced that PMU’s expertise is going to enable us to further improve our performances and go to the next level.”
PMU eSport’s brand was first be visible with Paris Saint-Germain eSports on the shirt of FIFA player Lucas “Daxe” Cuillerier during the Montpellier Esport Show this weekend.
Esports Insider says: This is why football clubs in esports is exciting for the overall industry. Their connections and relationships with major sponsors can open up an easier path for revenue for their esports arms. We’re intrigued to see what PMU eSport brings to the table itself too.
