ESL announces two key new executive hires

The latest from the ESL camp is today’s announcement of two key global executive hires.

Ralf Reichert, ESL

Joining the new look management team is Rodrigo Samwell as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Martin Hubert as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO).

Ralf Reichert, Global CEO and President, ESL said of the news: “This is an exciting time for the global esports industry with ESL at the heart of this massive ecosystem.

“These new executive hires reflect the company’s global focus to better service our growing roster of partners, publishers and sponsors, and add expertise in key areas such as marketing and sales. We are excited to welcome Martin and Rodrigo to the team.”

As Global CMO, Rodrigo Samwell will be responsible for product marketing, brand strategy, communications, innovation, customer analytics, merchandising, licensing and sales channels.

Samwell has made the move from Vodafone Group, where he held the position of Group Head of Marketing Strategy. Vodafone has of course been involved in esports by the way of sponsorships, most recently it became the key sponsor of mousesports.

Global CRO Martin Hubert’s role will be growing ESL’s revenue worldwide. Hubert has joined the team from Zalando Media Solutions, where he was both Vice President and CEO of nugg.ad, a Zalando subsidiary.

Esports Insider says: Two major new hires for ESL is a signal of the company’s intent and plans to continue to expand rather than rest on its laurels. Samwell’s work in esports with Vodafone should hold him in good stead whilst Hubert takes on the challenging role of growing revenue on a global scale.
