After an exceptionally brief hiatus, Betway and Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) are partnered up once more.

The bookmaker and the team terminated their arrangement following NiP’s decision to enter League of Legends, and game developer Riot’s rules regarding teams and gambling industry sponsors.

There was considerable outcry at the decision, with Betway one of the leading bookmakers in the space, a fully regulated one at that and one that understands the space. The partnership had proven a popular one; the Betway Esports team has created a great deal of strong content, competitions and more, whilst its Twitter channel is a consistent source of fun. The sponsorship was also amongst the largest esports has seen, with a ‘high six figure’ fee.

Indeed the announcement, published on NiP’s site at the weekend, opened with the following line: “We have never experienced such an overwhelming response regarding a partnership as we did on the 13th of August when we announced changes to the Betway sponsorship due to our participation in the EU LCS.”

The statement on the NiP site, which included the above video, continued: “The opinions of fans, players and staff is something we hold highly, which led to us re-thinking our decision. The 12 months we spent with Betway was nothing short of amazing; producing content and fan experiences bringing our players closer to the fans. We must also admit we have spent numerous hours playing games with the esports team at Betway, as they became more and more involved in the Ninja culture and community.

“Today, we are happy to announce that we have re-established the partnership with Betway as our participation agreement for the League of Legends Championship Series expires, and we assess the future of League of Legends in Europe.”

Esports Insider says: This is great news for NiP, Betway and the industry as a whole, as a successful, fruitful and popular partnership re-emerges just over a month after its termination was announced. This should also mean plenty more Betway Esports NiP content coming your way soon.
