Plan your esports agenda at Insomnia 62

Spring is in the air! Flowers are in bloom, and Easter will soon be here meaning Easter eggs and too much chocolate, but, more importantly, it also means iSeries.

This coming weekend (on Saturday 31st  to be precise) Esports Insider will travel to the NEC in Birmingham to attend UK’s largest LAN at Insomnia for its 62nd gaming event.

I62 will floor a large amount of entertainment and activities, from cosplay to streamers, VR, and retro gaming but you’ll be able to find us in the main LAN area watching some grassroots Rocket League, FIFA 18, Hearthstone, Overwatch, CS:GO, and maybe even some Football Manager.

But that is only a taste of what’s to come, as this first 2018 edition of Insomnia is an official partner for the 2018 Call of Duty World League Global Circuit, boasting a $200,000 (~£140,000)  prize pool, the largest of any Insomnia event to date.

One upping that would require something special, and that is exactly what is happening at i62. The rising FPS star brought to you by the UK’s very own Bulkhead Interactive, Battalion 1944 will have a tournament on site along with CoD and the rest of the UK masters. Will this be the start of the crossover? Can an indie developer rival a multi-billion dollar company in terms of community engagement. Only LAN will tell.

Here’s what Sarah Whittaker, Head of Events had to say: “Insomnia62 is the ultimate show for esports gamers and we are very excited to be back for our biggest show yet at the NEC in Birmingham. We are excited to bring more gamers to our community no matter what genre or game they have mastered and to provide a platform where they can be included”

Esports Insider says: We’re really looking forward to seeing the engagement around Battalion 1944 at i62 in particular. The game has great potential and we hope it sees the success it deserves in the near future.
