Mixer announces North American Championship featuring Fortnite

Live streaming platform Mixer announced Mixer Matchups x Microsoft Store North American Championship featuring Fortnite, a nationwide tournament set to start on October 19.

Fortnite players across North America are getting ready to land at the Microsoft Stores. The recently announced tournament is open to any player ready to take on the challenge. Starting on October 19 until November 10, the players are competing every Friday for a prize of $10,000 and a chance to win $15,000 in the gran final.

Making it to the end won’t be easy, players must overcome three stages before they can take the money. The North American Championship featuring Fortnite starts with a local stage, the competition is divided into four regions with 20 stores per region. Squads must pre-register but the event is working on a first come; first served basis. Spots for the tournament are limited.

On phase 2, the winner from each store is competing against the other 19 winners on the region. Regional champions and qualifying teams are competing until a champion is crowned on November 10 at Microsoft Stores across North America.

Players competing are the North American Championship featuring Fortnite can experience the event as professionals with shout casters, interviews and more. Mixer is scheduled to broadcast the matches.

Sign up is free and all hardware is provided, the list of participating stores is available. The tournament has a capacity for 10 teams for a total of 40 players at each store.

Esports Insider says: Arguably the most popular game of the year, Fortnite is still struggling with its competitive scene. These types of tournaments a popular but the quality of the gameplay sometimes is overshadowed by technical issues.
