Esports data company Bayes Esports has announced esports betting veteran Marco Blume as its strategic advisor.

Blume will work with Bayes Esports by advising the company on strategy and product, as well as in commercialisation, go-to-market and expansion strategy decisions.

Blume is perhaps most known for his long-time tenure at betting company Pinnacle, where he worked for over 15 years. He is credited with being a trailblazer in the field of esports betting and one of the key individuals that helped Pinnacle grow into a reputable company in the esports space. After leaving Pinnacle in 2022, Blume was appointed as a board member of Skybox Technologies.

Amir Mirzaee, CCO and MD of Bayes Esports said that Marco is one of the most renowned thought leaders in esports, and credited his innovative approach to sports betting solutions and data science.

Blume will join Bayes Esports at an interesting time for the company. The company recently appointed former Googler York Scheunemann as its COO, and secured notable partnerships with BLAST and DATA.BET. The company also expanded to Canada and the United States in 2022, and further expansion plans will surely be helped by advice from Blume.

Marco Blume added: “Esports betting represents the future of the sports betting industry. At  Pinnacle, I realized just how quickly that market is growing and just how much potential there  still is for it in the market.

“I am eager to help Bayes Esports find potential avenues and  solutions that will unlock that potential and give both sportsbooks and fans many reasons to  be excited about for the future of esports betting.”

Interestingly, Blume is also a former professional Magic: The Gathering player. As a professional player, he won numerous tournaments in late 90’s and early 00’s.
