The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) 2025 Midseason Playoffs will kick off next week, featuring 40 teams and a $2m (~£1.47m) prize pool.

Here is everything fans can look forward to heading into the second international Apex Legends competition of the year.

ALGS Midseason Playoffs Format and Schedule

The ALGS Midseason Playoffs will take place from July 10th-13th as part of the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The four-day event will begin with a Pool Play stage, where teams will be split into two groups of 20.

Each group will compete for points across a 10-match series to determine the contestant’s future in the tournament:

  • The top 7 squads from each group will advance directly to the Match Point Finals
  • Ranks 8-17 in each group will qualify for the Last Chance Semifinals
  • The bottom 3 in each group will be eliminated from the competition

Next, the Last Chance Semifinals will see 20 teams participate in another 10-match series. However, only the top 6 squads will secure a spot in the Finals.

In the Match Point Finals, the 20 remaining contestants will then battle under the ALGS Match Point format until the Midseason Playoffs Champion emerges. The winning team will not only take home the lion’s share of the event’s prize pool but also secure crucial points for the ALGS Championship and the EWC, respectively.

Throughout the entire tournament, POI Drafting and Legend Bans will increase the stakes of the competition. This ruleset removes the most-picked Legend from the pool for the rest of the series after every match.
