The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, KSA) has taken decisive action against YouTube influencer Djade ‘LeftlanePapi‘ Sadloe, issuing its first-ever order subject to a penalty for promoting illegal online gambling.
This enforcement marks a significant escalation in the regulator’s efforts to curb unlicensed gambling promotions on social media, particularly those targeting younger audiences.
The KSA’s investigation began after reports surfaced of LeftlanePapi, whose real name is Djade Sadloe, livestreaming and promoting gambling activities on platforms not licensed in the Netherlands, such as Skyhills.com.
The influencer’s YouTube channel, with over 53,000 subscribers, featured videos that not only showcased live gambling but also included direct links and invitations for viewers to participate, as well as access to a Dutch-language Discord channel for additional support.
Upon identifying the violations, the KSA issued a formal warning to LeftlanePapi, instructing him to remove all illegal gambling content within 48 hours. Despite this, the content remained online and new streams continued to appear.
In one video, LeftlanePapi acknowledged the risks, stating: “I always leave the stream up for 12 hours and then delete it immediately. You know how YouTube and the KSA are with me, I don’t want headaches.”
As a result of non-compliance, the KSA imposed a penalty order requiring the immediate cessation of all illegal promotional activities.
The order stipulates a fine of €25,000 (£21,519) per violation, up to a maximum of €75,000 (£64,559.62). If the influencer fails to comply, the regulator will also approach the social media platform directly to ensure the removal of harmful content.
This enforcement is part of the KSA’s new two-track policy for dealing with influencers who promote illegal gambling.
The process begins with a warning and a 48-hour window to remove offending content. If the influencer does not comply, financial penalties are imposed and the platform is contacted to take down the material.
The KSA has confirmed that several other influencers have already received similar warnings and that further action will be taken if necessary.
The regulator emphasised that the surge in illegal gambling promotions on social media is particularly concerning due to the appeal these influencers have among young viewers.
The KSA’s stated goal is to protect vulnerable groups from exposure to unlicensed gambling, fraud, and addiction risks.
The penalty order against LeftlanePapi, officially issued on June 18th and made public on July 2nd, 2025, signals a new era of enforcement and consumer protection in the Dutch online gambling landscape.
