Florida International University (FIU) has launched a dedicated esports lounge in collaboration with gaming PC brand Alienware.

The Alienware FIU Esports Lounge is part of the university’s strategy to foster a ‘culture of esports’ on its campus.

Thanks to the collaboration with Alienware, Florida International University’s 3,042-square-foot facility features 39 gaming stations equipped with the brand’s range of high-end gaming PCs, mice, keyboards and gaming chairs.

A release cited esports’ interest ‘skyrocketing’ as a reason for the creation of the facility. The university stated that its student-operated esports club has surpassed 600 members while its collegiate esports teams continue to achieve success in national competitions.

Alongside the facility, Florida International University has created an esports marketing certificate and intends to build a learning area so it can host esports competitions on its campus.

Universities across the world continue to embark on various esports initiatives. In August, Florida-based Full Sail University joined forces with Madden NFL Esports for the 2025 edition of the Madden Championship Series. In May, the University of West London launched two new esports degrees, continuing the trend of UK institutions creating esports qualifications.

Elizabeth M. Béjar, Provost, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Florida International University, commented on the news: “Innovation and creativity come together at FIU to accelerate our students’ success and provide opportunities for our 56,000 students and over 320,000 alumni to become leaders in their fields.

“This partnership with Alienware elevates our effort to offer the growing population of Panthers interested in the gaming industry – regardless of major – the chance to explore how they can combine their skills and interests to build rewarding careers in esports.”

We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
