According to a release, Cloud9 acquired the spot following a &#8216;competitive bidding process&#8217;. Financial information regarding the price of the slot has not been disclosed. <\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67d723bf80ca5\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>Founded in 2013, <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2023\/01\/cloud9-michael-choi\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"133416\">Cloud9<\/a> has achieved a wealth of success in Counter-Strike esports. The organisation won the ELEAGUE Boston Major in 2018 and recently competed in the 2023 BLAST Premier World Final, taking home $25,000 (~\u00a319,712) in prize money after placing in the top six.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67d723bf8142c\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>A bidding process was triggered following Evil Geniuses&#8217; decision to sell its BLAST Premier member slot. In October 2023, it partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2023\/10\/kia-league-of-legends-cloud9-partnership\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"144968\">KIA America<\/a>, the American brand of Korean automotive marque KIA.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67d723bf828fb\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>Cloud9&#8217;s BLAST partner team status looks likely to be short-term considering that Counter-Strike developer Valve will be putting an end to the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2023\/08\/counter-strike-open-ecosystem-changes\">semi-franchised partner team model in 2025<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67d723bf833b9\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p><strong>Jack Etienne, Co-founder and CEO of Cloud9<\/strong>, spoke on the news: &#8220;I am thrilled to announce Cloud9&#8217;s participation in BLAST Premier.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67d723bf83b96\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>&#8220;Joining this prestigious league reflects our commitment to excellence and competitiveness on a global stage.
