Team EnVyUs has confirmed a large multi-million investment from the Hersh Interactive Group. The figure is believed (according to ESPN reports) to be around $35,000,000 (£25.9m) and is comfortably one of the largest investments in an esports team to date.

The deal was confirmed on Twitter last night by owner Mike “Hastr0” Rufail, saying “Confirming for all of you today that we have accepted a multi 8-figure investment from a great new partner in the Hersh Interactive Group”.
He stated further: “I will continue to be the principal owner and operator of the team. I’m not going anywhere. In many ways, we’re just getting started. In addition, I’m coming home to Texas and bringing the entire team with me. Get ready Dallas, we have some neat things on the way”.
The funding is led by Hersh Interactive Group, headed up by oil and natural gas tycoon Kenneth Hersh. Although it has also been reported that EnVyUs will purchase the Austin-Dallas Overwatch League slot this has not yet been comfirmed by Rufail.
In the press release, Rufail stated ” “EnVy teams have played live in front of tens of thousands of fans at some of the largest arenas in the world. There is nothing like being surrounded by 20,000 passionate fans in a live setting, and with the support of Ken Hersh and Hersh Interactive Group, we will build that type of thrilling fan experience in Dallas”.
The EnVyUs brand is already extremely successful in esports, with teams doing extremely well across a multitude of platforms. The investment from Hersh will enable the team to best support its players and staff as esports continues to grow. It’s surely got to be the Dallas-Austin OWL slot now, especially as the EnVy squad is going strongly in contenders.
Esports Insider says: If the figures are correct, that’s a huge investment for EnVyUs and should allow them to do some awesome things in Dallas. With Hastr0 at the helm, the organisation is in safe hands and one would assume it shall continue to grow emphatically.
