Houston Outlaws – the official Overwatch League franchise of OpTic Gaming – has signed its first official sponsor, T-Mobile.
As a part of this partnership, T-Mobile has now become the official wireless partner of the team and its players.
Throughout the ongoing season, Un-carrier customers will be in with the chance of receiving perks such as VIP seating at Houston Outlaws events and exclusive discounts. Working together, both parties will be working on a new content series that’ll give a further look at the team’s players and their experiences in the League – in addition to the ongoing docu-series Focus.
Ryan “OpTicJ” Musselman, Senior Vice President of Infinite Esports and Entertainment commented on the sponsorship: “T-Mobile is not only America’s fastest network, but the fastest to embrace esports. This commitment and dedication makes them a top choice for the Houston Outlaws.”
T-Mobile already has ties to the Overwatch League, acting as the wireless provider and title sponsor for Overwatch League’s MVP and Finals MVP awards. The telecommunications company previously sponsored Cloud9 and Team SoloMid, and has partnered with the likes of Riot Games for global tournaments such as the League of Legends World Championship 2017.
Other Overwatch League franchises have welcomed sponsorships over the course of the competition’s inaugural year too, such as London Spitfire with Logitech G and Los Angeles Valiant with Lionsgate.
Esports Insider says: Houston Outlaws has proven to be one of the more popular teams in the Overwatch League thus far, with plenty of fan engagement online and at the Blizzard Arena. Subsequently, this franchise is a good choice for T-Mobile to sponsor since it’s looking to reach a “dedicated young audience”.
