Mindfreak announces sponsorship from Monster Energy

Energy drinks brand Monster Energy is now sponsoring Australian esports organisation Mindfreak.

This is Monster Energy’s first venture into the Australian esports scene, already having a strong presence in North America, Europe, and more recently, Asia.

The Australian organisation is gearing up to compete in the biggest Call of Duty tournament of the year, the World League Championship. 32 teams are involved, and they’re vying to get a substantial piece of the $1.5 million (£1.175 million) prize pool.

Albert Nassif, Owner of MindFreak said the following in a statement: “This partnership between Monster Energy and Mindfreak is more than just a huge step for Mindfreak, this is a huge step for Australian esports. Bringing in a powerhouse brand like Monster Energy, into our region for the first time shows the non-endemic world that we’re ready to be taken seriously.

“Mindfreak joins an elite few organizations as a Monster Energy team, shoulder to shoulder with premiere brands such as Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, Team EnVyUs and many more. This partnership brings much needed support to all Mindfreak professional teams and we’re excited to begin this journey.”

Mindfreak is also sponsored by ASTRO Gaming, Scuf Gaming, Bluemouth Interactive, and Kontrol Freek. Monster Energy sponsors a number of teams in the industry already, including Alliance, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, Fnatic, Team Envy, paiN Gaming, Vici Gaming, and Evil Geniuses. Just last week, the energy drinks company sponsored PSG.LGD ahead of The International 8.

Esports Insider says: The Australian esports scene is vastly quiet compared to other regions – namely Asia and North America – so it’s nice to see Monster Energy give some love to Mindfreak. It’s also a good move on the drinks brand’s behalf as it’s covering more and more areas around the world as the industry grows.
