Mark Cuban-backed esports betting platform Unikrn, has announced the rollout of their Isle of Man approved cryptocurrency and fiat live betting service to over 20 nations worldwide.

The blockchain-powered platform will allow users to bet on esports teams and tournaments as well as allowing bettors to try their own luck in a variety of skill-based betting in titles such as Fortnite, Dota 2 and League of Legends. Using technology from US digital asset trading platform, Bittrex, customers are promised an “accessible and seamless crypto experience” when using Unikrn’s wagering and gaming platform.

Bittrex CEO Bill Shihara is optimistic about the proper integration of blockchain technology within esports’ flourishing betting handle. “We believe in blockchain’s potential, and this use case presents another opportunity to further expand adoption of this innovative technology by combining with the rapidly growing gaming market.”

Utilising Unikrn’s in-house cryptocurrency – UnikoinGold (UKG) – will offer players and bettors additional benefits as an added incentive for using the platform’s primary crypto token.

“Unikrn built the most advanced wagering backend in the world, built by incorporating blockchain technologies, and we’re entering a segment of the global games market which exceeds $30 billion,” said Rahul Sood, Unikrn co-founder and CEO, “Equally historic for esports, wagering and blockchain, we’re the first company on the planet to launch with a license including crypto and fiat betting from the Isle of Man, which is home to one of the most respected regulators for gambling.”

Live betting of esports and gaming contests will be available in October for both crypto and fiat customers.

Esports Insider says: Unikrn has long been talking about the integration of crypto betting into their offering following the launch of UKG what seems like an eternity ago. Said to be made available this month, we’re excited to see how Unikrn’s crypto-betting system fares in this ecosystem.
