Tej Kohli has committed to investing a total of €50 million into esports and this acts as the first investment made through Rewired GG, in which he is the lead backer. For more information on the venture studio, and Kohli’s own background, you can watch his interview with Esports Insider here.

Fabien Devide, President and Co-founder of Team Vitality discussed the investment: “This investment marks a truly significant moment in the five-year history of our team and is a result of the hard work of our players, and the unquestionable loyalty of our supporters. We look forward to building on the already great community Team Vitality has established and to welcoming new players and supporters in the future.”

Team Vitality also plans to expand its footprint in both Southeast Asia and China, utilising Tej Kohli’s experience to become a “globally recognised brand.”

Nicolas Maurer, CEO and Co-founder of Team Vitality added: “Team Vitality has always strived to be one of the best esports teams in the world. With Mr Kohli’s support we are excited to step even closer to achieving our global ambitions. Team Vitality is set to become leaders in an industry that we believe will soon rival traditional sports in terms of audience and investment.”

Just last week, Team Vitality was one of 10 long-term partners to be announced as entering into the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), the competition formerly known as the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS). It also entered Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in recent weeks, picking up an all-French roster.

Tej Kohli also commented: “Esports is the future of both sport and entertainment and Vitality is one of the biggest and most exciting European teams. I’m thrilled to accompany them on their journey, as they look to become the number one esports team in Europe, and ultimately worldwide.

“I look forward to using my forty-years of business and technology experience to assist the management team in building a well-respected, world-class team, which will be a dream for every gamer and supporter to be a part of.”

Esports Insider says: Tej Kohli has certainly put his money where his mouth is, proving he’s serious about European esports and the industry as a whole. With recent entries into CS:GO and a secured spot in the LEC, Team Vitality is one of the more exciting esports organisations out there and there’s a lot of potential in the mentioned regions that they plan to enter.
