After announcing a new partnership in April of this year, Immortals and K-Swiss have announced their very first collaboration: the Immortals Icon lifestyle sneaker.
The limited edition trainer is available for purchase on K-Swiss’ website and is a limited edition release.
Noah Whinston, Executive Chairman of Immortals commented on the collaboration in a statement: “We embrace our players’ unique styles and understand that personal expression and performance are uniquely tied together. K-Swiss has been a true partner as we workshopped, collaborated and ideated on the Immortals Icon sneaker. This sneaker is only the beginning as our game-changing performance shoe collaboration is yet to come.”
Immortals and K-Swiss are set to release the “world’s first competitive gaming sneaker” in the mid portion of 2019, which is said to be developed “hand in hand by K-Swiss designers and Immortals’ players” with esports professionals in mind.
Barney Waters, President of K-Swiss also discussed the release: “Esports is exploding, and we’re excited to be at the forefront. Immortals is a great organization to be partnered with as we explore together the intersection of sneakers and esports. As shown in the Immortals Icon, this creative zone is one we continue to focus energy on.”
Earlier this week, Immortals announced that Noah Whinston had stepped down from his role as CEO of the organisation in favour of former-COO Ari Segal. Whinston has transitioned to the post of Executive Chairman, taking on a more public-facing role.
Esports Insider says: It’s good to see esports seep into the world of mainstream fashion after a number of endemic apparel companies popping up over the years. The Grandmaster – the second collaboration between the two parties – will be even more interesting than the Icon as it’ll be the first piece of footwear designed specifically for professional players.
