NBA 2K League has appointed clothing manufacturer Champion as its official outfitter ahead of the 2019 draft on March 5th.

As part of the multi-year partnership, Champion will provide each of the 21 teams in the league with game uniforms and apparel for warming up, travelling, and practicing.

Brendan Donohue, Managing Director of NBA 2K League discussed the deal: “We are thrilled to have an iconic brand like Champion as our official outfitter. Champion’s authentic designs and innovative products make them a great partner for the league, and we can’t wait to see our teams compete in their new uniforms this season.”

In-game avatars will be kitted out in Champion-branded apparel, and throughout the season, the brand will provide clothing for marquee events such as the NBA 2K League Draft Clash, in-season tournaments, and the League Finals.

Jon Ram, Group President Global Activewear at Champion also commented: “The need for esports apparel is quickly evolving and Champion is pleased to be an integral part of this historical opportunity. Being the official outfitters for the NBA 2K League is an exciting and pivotal opportunity for Champion to continue our evolution and expansion to outfit teams within the esports and traditional sports communities. Together we can push the boundaries and bring esports to a wider audience.”

NBA 2K League is also partnered with SCUF Gaming, HyperX, Intel, Alienware, State Farm, New Era, and Nike’s Jordan brand. Just a few days ago, the league received a sponsorship from AT&T through the NBA itself.

Champion has recently worked with FaZe Clan and Fnatic on their own one-off hoodies. Just last month, it entered a partnership with Renegades – prior to that, it became the official jersey, casual wear, and athletic wear provider of Dignitas, the primary jersey provider for PlayVS, and the apparel sponsor of the RMU Eagles.

Esports Insider says: Champion is evidently trying to fill the apparel gap in esports; a few companies are aiming to serve a number of organisations and leagues, and it’s obviously vying for the top spot. NBA 2K League is a big deal to close considering the teams that compete within it and the popularity of the game so the brand has done a good job – bravo!
