Nic Barlage, President of Business Operations at Cleveland Cavaliers discussed the deal in an announcement: “As decentralized technology continues to evolve, we know it is important for us to stay ahead of the curve and plan for how it will impact our fan experience and business as we move forward. We are happy to team up with UnitedCoin, a like-minded company motivated by innovative technology to help us do that and are excited about how this partnership will bring blockchain technology to life for our fans.”

Cavs Legion GC will promote UnitedCoin through its social media channels and virtual home court in the league. The team is also partnered with Rocket Mortgage, Hot Pockets, SteelSeries, and Alienware.

Derek Jones, Founder and CEO of UnitedCoin added: “Our partnership is a great opportunity to introduce Cavs and Legion fans to our insured blockchain platform and to educate them about and the benefits of cryptocurrency, a safe and secure alternative to spending cash.”

Esports Insider says: There’s quite a crowd of people who are championing cryptocurrency and blockchain in esports – that’s impossible to deny – but there’s still a huge wad of skepticism that’s thrown at that particularly wave of technology. One way of potentially reducing such stigma is getting recognisable and well-received brands to champion it; this, in our eyes, is an example of that. It’s still unclear as to how this partnership will help Cavs Legion GC in any unique way though.
