Gaming peripherals brand Logitech G is set to serve as the exclusive educational partner of newly-launched Australian startup GGWP Academy.
GGWP Academy, which describes itself as “the world’s first e-learning platform for gamers who want to build a career in content creation and esports,” officially launched on February 24th.

GGWP Academy already holds global partnerships with online tournament platforms Mogul.gg and Nicecactus, in which it claims will help to distribute its mobile app to an estimated extended audience of over 6,000,000 gamers.
From launch, the app will feature three educational categories: streamer, esports athlete, and recorded content creator. Planned future expansions include courses on shoutcasting, podcasting, and esports & gaming writing. The startup’s esports-specific courses are designed to prepare budding professional gamers for life as a pro player and/or content creator, covering topics such as branding, lifestyle, finance, and legal foundations.

Jacqueline Garrett, CEO and Founder of GGWP Academy, spoke of the company’s planned next steps after attending the 2019 leAD SPORT1 Accelerator in Berlin: “We want to help the new wave of gamers, content creators and esports athletes achieve their goals in a structured and professional way. This means, giving them the tools and education to learn as well as a platform to help them find opportunities to work with teams and brands.”
GGWP Academy has raised a pre-seed round and is “now getting ready” to close a seed round of investment. A “V2” of the platform is planned for launch later this year, with an ‘influencer marketplace’ that will “provide users a world wide ranking and a pathway of opportunity to be engaged by brands for influencer campaigns.”
Esports Insider says: While the “world-first” claims are dubious at best, GGWP Academy’s trio of partnerships does appear to leave it well-placed to establish itself as the definitive educational platform in the gaming community. Having the weight of Logitech’s name behind the brand will certainly add a degree of credibility to the platform.
