Esports organisation FaZe Clan has today agreed a partnership with fantasy sports company DraftKings Inc., the two parties announced in a release.
The deal will see DraftKings become the ‘Official Sports Betting, iGaming, Daily Fantasy and Free-to-Play Partner’ of FaZe Clan. The two brands will cooperate on a series of content activations featuring FaZe’s content creators, and more.
Additionally, a new podcast and an original series are planned that will carry DraftKings and FaZe branding.
In addition to the content activations, DraftKings will expand its esports presence further by becoming the official sponsor of FaZe Clan’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive team. DraftKings logo will also receive a place on the team’s jerseys.
Matt Kalish, Co-founder and President of DraftKings – North America, has said: “FaZe Clan is a juggernaut of internet engagement and culture, built from the ground up into one of the most influential esports and content organizations in the world.
“The strong crossover between DraftKings customers and FaZe’s tens of millions of viewers and followers made this a natural alliance, and we hope to create excitement, competition, and community around sports and video games for adult audiences everywhere we operate.”
DraftKings has had limited interactions with esports brands in the past. Although the company supports esports through its businesses, the only partnership yet was one with DRIVE, a venture capital company from the USA.
The partnership with FaZe will be much higher profile, and the company noted in a release that it plans to use the relationship to cooperate with FaZe on responsible gaming education. Financial details of the deal were not released.
It comes after FaZe’s $1bn valuation and the announcement of its upcoming listing on NASDAQ late last month.
Esports Insider says: FaZe and DraftKings are both big brands in their respective fields, and this cooperation will see DraftKings become heavily involved in FaZe’s content efforts. It will be interesting to see just how much the two entities focus their efforts on producing content that is educational and responsibile.
