31 January 2022

NASDAQ-listed gambling company Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has promoted Stuart Tilly to Chief Operating Officer.

Tilly will assume the reigns as COO after spending a year and a half as EEG’s Chief Legal Officer. In his new role, he will be tasked with overseeing EEG’s ‘operational growth’ as it carries out its long term goals.

The newly appointed COO blends experience across iGaming, sports betting, software, and law. Prior to joining EEG, Tilly served as the Chief Executive Officer of Argyll Entertainment, a UK-licensed online gambling company, and founded FLIP Sports,  peer-to-peer technology and mobile game developer.

Esports Entertainment Group acquired select technology assets from FLIP Sports in September 2020.

Esports Entertainment Group CEO Grant Johnson commented in a release: “Given the remarkable growth in the size, breadth and geographical reach of our operations and staff over the last 18 months, we had long identified this operations role as a critical one in enabling the company to achieve its long-term strategic goals.

“With Stuart’s extensive iGaming knowledge, first-hand experience of launching and growing businesses together combined with his legal and regulatory background, we felt he was the ideal fit for this position.”

Last week, EEG made national headlines after receiving approval from New Jersey regulators to legally accept wagers on its esports betting platform in the Garden State.

Stuart Tilly added: “Having played a role in the burgeoning expansion of the company’s operations through our M&A activity since joining the company in the summer of last year, I’m incredibly excited to now be entrusted with overseeing the next stage of the Company’s operational growth as we look to maximize the potential of our business assets and execute on our long term goals.”

Esports Insider says: Stuart Tilly appears to be a Swiss Army knife for the online gambling firm, given his background in law and operations. EEG is coming off a big win in New Jersey with its most recent regulator approval — the question is, what’s next for them?
