Global web3 gaming leader Immutable has announced the formation of a dedicated Mobile Gaming Division, showing intent and a strategic push to capture a share of the $121bn (£94bn) mobile gaming market.
The new unit will provide partner studios with mobile-optimised development tools, streamlined app store integrations, and direct investment to scale web3 games for iOS and Android audiences.
Lowering Barriers for Developers to Conquer Mobile
The Mobile Gaming Division will focus on three core initiatives: building products that make on-chain features easier for mobile developers, teaming up with app stores and publishers, and backing studios with capital to create phone-first experiences.
On social media, Immutable President and co-founder Robbie Ferguson called mobile gaming the industry’s biggest opportunity.
“A specialist taskforce, hell bent on breaking games into the $121bn mobile market,” Ferguson stated, when announcing the division’s launch. “Since April, we’ve already taken three games to the No. 1 rank on mobile stores. Now we want the charts to be dominated by Immutable.”
This expansion comes amid improving market and regulatory conditions, including the 2025 Epic Games v. Apple ruling, which relaxed restrictions on external cryptocurrency payments and reduced the burden of traditional 30% platform commissions. Legislative efforts like the CLARITY Act have also lowered barriers for mainstream studios exploring blockchain features.
Immutable’s ecosystem has capitalised on this momentum, adding over 180 games this year to surpass 680 total titles. Developer interest has also grown 53%, with monthly active users rising 32% month-on-month.
This growth coincides with activity on Immutable Play, the company’s launch and live-ops platform.
Recent successes include the global release of Slime Miner (an idle RPG with regular events and leaderboards), a token-and-NFT clash in Dæmons, and a major MMO update for Chainers with farming, crafting, and combat.
Upcoming mobile-focused titles include Project O from Koin Games, a session-based trading card game, and a new release from Spider Tanks creator GAMEDIA.
This mobile initiative follows Immutable’s esports integrations, where its flagship title Guild of Guardians teamed up with major esports organisations —including Fnatic, Team Liquid, and others—integrating their brands as playable characters in the game.
Immutable’s strategy to carve into the mobile gaming market is simple: make web3 gaming feel natural on mobile.
