Mecha Break, a new online Mech PvP Shooter, has recorded a peak player count of over 300,000 on Steam following the launch of its open beta on February 23rd, 2025.
In addition, Amazing Seasun Games has announced plans to host an invitational esports tournament in March to showcase the third-person shooter prior to its full release in Spring.
Mecha Break features several different modes including PvPvE and a six-versus-six PvP mode with its own set of maps. Known as Operation Verge, players have the option to build a loadout for their mech featuring a wealth of abilities designed to enhance movement and damage output.
In addition to its third-person shooter mechanics, Mecha Break also features team-based gameplay similar to MOBA titles such as Dota 2 and League of Legends.
Amazing Seasun Games has also revealed plans to host an invitational esports event once the Mecha Break beta ends. In total, 10 teams from China, North America and Japan will compete in the Mecha Break Pre-Launch Global Invitational taking place from March 13th to 16th, 2025.
Apart from the event date, details on participating teams and the event format weren’t disclosed.
However, the Mecha Break developer has announced plans to host an ‘annual esports event’.
Following the beta, over 3,500 reviews of Mecha Break have appeared on its Steam page. The majority approve of the fast-paced gameplay and loadout customisation. However, its monetisation model has been met with criticism.
As a potential esports title, it will be interesting to see how Mecha Break performs.
With the game’s esports efforts being backed by the developer, the Pre-Launch Invitational will act as an opportunity to gather feedback from esports players to make the mech shooter a viable title used for competition.
