MotoGP team LCR Honda have entered esports with the help of Italian esports management firm, Pro2Be Esports.
The announcement will see Pro2Be Esports develop the project alongside LCR Honda, with 2018 MotoGP Esport semifinalist Putut “Moe” Maulana become the first player to represent the team.
Roberto Forzano, Marketing and Communication Director of Pro2Be Esport discussed the venture: “We are excited for having the chance to play our part in the managing of the esports side of a prestigious team such as LCR Honda. We have always believed and keep believing that real and virtual sports should live in symbiosis; this partnership aims to strengthen this bond.”
Moe was the only player in MotoGP eSport Championship’s 2018 semifinals that wasn’t from Europe. He was already managed by Pro2Be Esports prior to the firm’s deal with LCR Honda.
Lucio Cecchinello, Head of LCR Honda MotoGP added: “We are happy to welcome Moe within our big international family. With him, our team has members from 13 different countries! We are ready to give our best for him so to perform at his best and get our colours as high as possible into esports. Moreover, South East Asia is an extremely interesting audience for us and our sponsors, there are many motorsport fans and the community keeps growing.”
Taking place on MotoGP 19, players can compete in the championship on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a BMW M135i xDrive, with the runner up winning a Yamaha YZF-R3.
Esports Insider Says: With experience in several sports titles, Pro2Be Esports partnering with LCR Honda makes a lot of sense. Signing Moe is also a great way to tap into the Southeast Asian esports market and will see LCR Honda reach new audiences.
