The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas will play host to the world’s biggest fighting game tournament, EVO between 14-16 July 2017.

The competition returns to the Mandalay Bay Events Center, but all three days of competition will be held there in 2017 whereas previously just the final day was held in the Events Center.

There’s not been too many details released by EVO about which titles will feature at the showpiece event, but the trailer teased on Youtube (above) reveals fighting classics such as TekkenStreet Fighter and Super Smash Bros amongst others.

Last year the final of the Street Fighter competition was broadcast on ESPN2 and according to the above, did extremely well ratings wise. It wasn’t particularly friendly for the Europeans, though, with the final being played between 3 and 6AM CET.

Esports Insider says: Whilst fighting games are somewhat not considered in the mainstream esports agenda, there’s certainly a market there. EVO is a great tournament which showcases the best in global talent across multiple games under one roof. It’ll be interesting to see which games are played, as there were some that appeared on the bill last year that didn’t go down overly well with the community (Pokken, anyone?!)

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
