FIFA esports FA Cup to return to Wembley – All Welcome

05 January 2017

Saturday 6 May will see FIFA 17 players from across the world compete at Wembley Stadium in what is being billed as the esports FA Cup.

The winner will receive a VIP experience at the official Emirates FA Cup which takes place a few weeks later.

It’ll be a busy day with 64 players set to take part in order to accurately replicate the format of the FA Cup. One player will be selected to represent each club that made it to this year’s third round.

One cool aspect will be that it won’t just be the pitch being utilised at Wembley; the player’s tunnel and the changing rooms will be used for matches. The final will take place in the centre circle of the pitch with huge 82ft screens.

As reported by The Drum, Lucy Roberts-Hartley, The Emirates FA Cup, Senior Brand Manager said: “We’re incredibly excited to announce the return of Every Gamer’s Adventure to Wembley Stadium in 2017. Last year’s tournament was action-packed and saw the likes of Bury FC reach the quarter finals, showcasing – much like the real Emirates FA Cup – that truly anything can happen.

“We want to invite gamers from across the world to register for a chance to take part and descend on the home of football, raising the stakes even higher in 2017 to see if anyone else can cause an almighty Emirates FA Cup upset.”

Players can enter the tournament via, where they will be entered into a ballot and subsequently selected at random to be one of the 64 names in the third round draw.

Esports Insider says: You only get so many opportunities to play at Wembley. The ESI application has been submitted. See you in the players’ tunnel.
