MVP have disbanded their longstanding Dota 2 team MVP Phoenix following the departure of key players. They have also announced that MVP Aegis will merge into MVP HOT6ix, whilst MVP Revolution will keep its name.

The move comes after all of their players have decided to try pastures new. Lee “Forev” Sang-don has joined the new up and coming European roster B)ears, Kim “DuBu” Doo-Young and Kim “QO” Seon-Yeop have moved to the United States to join separate rosters.

Other notable movements include Kim “Febby” Yong-Min recently signing for Fnatic and Kim “Velo” Tae-Sung joining SEA squad Geek Fam for the upcoming Major in Kiev.

Although it’s been announced that MVP HOT6ix will be the team competing under the MVP banner – the roster has yet to be confirmed. On the other hand, MVP Revolution are a team that the organisation picked up from Kyrgyzstan and they have announced that they will be moving to Korea to fully reap the rewards that a prestigious organisation like MVP can offer.

The MVP organisation have been the pinnacle of a tough to crack Dota 2 scene in South Korea. Whilst the Koreans continue to lead the way in League of LegendsOverwatch and Starcraft II, the Dota 2 scene has never quite caught on as much as one would have hoped. With top six finishes at The Shanghai Major and The Manila Major as well as a top eight finish at The International 5 and another top six at The International 6 – MVP Phoenix truly graced the Dota scene with some phenomenal Dota – often crowd favourites for their hyper-aggressive playstyle.

They amassed over $2.5million (£2.05m) in prize money during their stint as a Dota 2 team.

Esports Insider says: Whilst it’s sad to see such a household name step out of Dota 2 for a little while – we’re beginning to see the SEA scene merge with the West and the teams that each of the individually talented players have moved onto now have an intriguing blend of SEA and Western players. We’re particularly excited to see the B)ears team with Forev – who’s undoubtedly one of the most talented offlaners in the Dota 2 scene – matching up with an exciting new roster.
