Unikrn has announced its investment into the newly formed German CS:GO team Berlin International Gaming (BIG)

Formed by former mousesports, Alternate aTTaX, and NRG players, BIG is here to prove that German Counter-Strike is still a force to be reckoned with.

Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood has shared his thoughts on the matter: “Initially we were approached by BIG, asking for a sponsorship. We immediately fell in love with the idea of supporting a German allstar team.

“We were discussing sponsorships for multiple teams in the recent past, but somehow it never felt right. We even discussed the possibility of team ownership with some of our star investors. We met this dream half way with BIG. We are not only partnering up with BIG, we are actually investing in them! We want to create value for the team but at the same time we are completely hands-off when it comes to the daily operation or anything roster related. We support them through financial backing and business development.

He concluded: “We are super excited about this opportunity and wish the team all the best for Dreamhack Leipzig!”

As for the players, Fatih “gob b” Dayik is a name that everyone should be familiar with from his time with mousesports and NRG. Alongside him will be Nikola “LEGIJA” Ninic, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, Johannes “nex” Maget and Kevin “keev” Bartholomäus.

Wodarz is regarded as one of the top German CS:GO players whilst Bartholomäus won ESWC 2016 with aTTaX.

Esports Insider says: Unikrn is the esports betting specialist and Berlin is probably the esports capital of Europe, so investing in a CS:GO team based in the city is a great shout.
