In the latest episode of esports podcast The Esports Roundtable, host Joe Hills welcomes yet another esteemed guest to the show – this time Ben Reed, Head of Brand at the Silvertown Project.

For those unaware, Silvertown sits in East London near the likes of the ExCeL centre. The area is currently undergoing what can only be described as a major makeover with investment attempting to build the area into a vibrant hub in the UK.
Reed starts by opening up about his gaming history and how he gained an interest in esports. He reveals that Donkey Kong on a handheld device was his first experience in gaming before becoming permanently glued to a Gameboy.
The two reminisce fondly about smash-hit titles such as Goldeneye and Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Reed even has the audacity to admit that he’s a Widowmaker player in the wonderful world of Overwatch.
Reed headed to the Bunkr to meet Fnatic and his passion for esports continued to grow from there. Having also attended an ESL CS:GO event amongst others, Reed truly got the flavour for the esports world and is now transferring that into his vision for the Silvertown region.
The discussion develops, touching on areas as distant from the topic as the intriguing world of cryptocurrency through to the ailing music industry and just how Ben thinks he can help shape an area of London to become a vibrant hub in the future. He provides insight into the discussions he’s had with brands who were starting to doubt building or moving to London as it seems to be losing the previously inescapable buzz.
