ESL UK sign on for UK Esports Awards

ESL UK has signed on to become the broadcast partner for the upcoming UK Esports Awards, a venture launched by domestic esports coverage websites Esports News UK and UKCSGO.com.

The awards are set to cover 16 categories intended to recognise the best of UK esports talent, ranging from players, casters and streamers to the more backstage oriented folks like managers, admins and more. Judging panels and desk hosts for the awards are set to be released at a later date.

The event itself is set to be hosted at ESL Studio One in Leicester, home of ESL UK, on June 30th. The small venue is set to hold “a limited space for partners, brands and personalities on the evening,” with further ticketing information coming at a later date. According to the deal, ESL UK will take no ownership of the UK Esports Awards and will remain “completely impartial in all aspects of the awards.”

James Dean, Managing Director, ESL UK, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting these awards, which will no doubt be a true celebration of the fantastic UK esports community on a very grassroots level. We hope this will be a long lasting partnership and our support for the awards will only help them get bigger for the future.”

Dom Sacco, co-founder of the UK Esports Awards, added: “The UK Esports Awards is not a typical awards ceremony with a black tie dress code or sit-down meal, but esports is not a typical industry. This is all about the community, recognising talent and helping to put UK esports on the map. We’ve chosen to hold the awards at ESL’s Studio 1 because of its state-of-the-art facilities, which we feel are perfect for streaming the inaugural UK Esports Awards.”

Esports Insider says: A big deal for the UK Esports scene, as they look to focus on building up their grassroots credentials. With ESL UK on-board, a big name comes in to back up and lend further credibility to the organisation.
