This week in esports: AT&T, FAZE sues FaZe, Immortals, DPC Changes

ESL welcomes AT&T as North American mobile gaming partner

ESL AT&T

Multinational conglomerate AT&T has become the official telecommunications and mobile gaming partner of ESL.

AT&T is experienced in traditional sports, but not so much with esports – though that’s set to change. The telecomms giant will be involved with ESL One New York, an upcoming IEM event, and the Arena of Valor Pro League.

FAZE Apparel sues FaZe Clan over trademark infringement

FaZe Clan

San Francisco-based clothing company FAZE Apparel is suing esports organisation FaZe Clan over an alleged trademark infringement on apparel. It’s aiming to receive treble damages, attorney fees, and enhanced statutory counterfeiting damages that could amount up to $2,000,000 (£1,498,520) per counterfeit mark.

The grounds of the infringement is on the use of the word “Faze”, as you’d probably expect. Things aren’t resolved as of yet, but there is a preliminary injunction on FaZe Clan that stops the organisation selling any merchandise that displays the word “Faze” without “Clan” following in close succession.

Immortals enter Latin American market with Rainbow Six Siege team

Immortals Rainbow Six Siege

North American organisation Immortals is working with Ubisoft to enter the Latin American esports scene, expanding into Rainbow Six Siege.

Acquiring the ex-BRK E-Sports roster, the team will represent the organisation but continue to play, train, and operate in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Ubisoft will add Immortals-branded items into the game.

Big changes announced for the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season 2018 – 2019

Valve has released details of the changes coming to the Dota Pro Circuit for the 2018-2019 season, of which they are set to be implemented in September of this year.

There are a whole host of changes, but the most notable may be new ownership rules – something that was recently announced for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The community has reacted overwhelmingly positive towards the upcoming alterations.
