Psyonix has announced that Snickers is returning as a sponsor of the Rocket League Championship Series ahead of its sixth season.

The chocolate bar brand joined the RLCS in March, first sponsoring Season 5 of the prestigious Rocket League competition.

Here’s what Psyonix said in the announcement: “We know that after the unbelievable game 7 finish at last season’s World Championship, RLCS fans all around the world were hungry for more; luckily one of our returning sponsors knows just how to help. We are excited to announce that Snickers will return to the RLCS as an official sponsor for Season 6!”

Season 6 of the RLCS will see a boost in prize pool, now sitting at $1,000,000 (£768,335). This is double the amount of money that was up for grabs over the course of the fifth season.

Mobil 1, a synthetic motor oil brand, is another returning sponsor for Season 6 of the series. It’s the competition’s longest-standing sponsor, so it’s not too much of a surprise to see that particular partnership continue.

Rocket League Championship Series returns for the new season on September 8th, broadcast live on Twitch. It’s not been revealed if other Season 5 sponsors, Old Spice and State Farm, will be returning as of yet.

RLCS isn’t the only way in which Snickers is involved in the industry. In January of this year, the snack brand was announced as the official chocolate of North American organisation FlyQuest.

Esports Insider says: Last season’s World Championship demonstrated just how entertaining and gripping Rocket League can be, and that reflected in all of the positivity surrounding the event afterwards. It’s not a surprise that Snickers wants to be involved in the RLCS when there’s a healthy fan base following its every move.
