University eSports Germany is an initiative ran by volunteers, many of which are students. The aim is to give students who study in universities around Germany the opportunity to compete against each other on a national level. UEG also helps people kickstart a team or a club at their university, supporting the inception of esports communities at a local level.

A variety of games are featured in UEG’s leagues and cups, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Rocket League, and Pokemon. In League of Legends, for example, UEG is already on its sixth season – proving it’s had enough interest to run for quite some time.

University eSports Germany is also sponsored by actimonda. The health insurance company was announced as the health partner on August 15th, and it will create a healthy lifestyle strategy for those who take part in the initiative.

Sennheiser is active in the industry, sponsoring organisations such as SK Gaming, Mineski, Rush Gaming, and Winstrike; it’s also partnered with event organisers Beyond the Summit and TakeTV. The audio giant has a number of gaming headsets for use across PC, Mac, and PlayStation.

Esports Insider says: University eSports Germany seems like it does a lot to support grassroots and collegiate esports across the country so it’s great to see a company of Sennheiser’s stature and size getting involved.
