The PC has been built with gaming in mind and is the first time ESL UK has given its stamp of approval on a high-street product.

James Dean, Managing Director of ESL UK had this to say about the computer and the experience building it: “It’s fantastic to be involved designing a PC specifically for esports on the high-street. The demand for esports-first hardware is here to stay in the UK, and, by offering our Esports PC with high street retailers, we can open up high-end PC gaming to a whole new audience. As the UK’s esports community grows, we’ll be working closely with our partners at Intel, Currys PC World, and PC Specialist to deliver more options that match players’ need for peak performance – and their budgets.”

The computer was available to test at EGX on the day of the announcement. Not only that, it was used to kit out the ESL UK Hearthstone Premiership Finals at the ESL Arena on September 22nd.

Scott Gillingham, UK Gaming & Esports Lead at Intel also commented: “Intel is very proud to have worked with ESL UK, PC Specialist and Currys PC World to create the ESL PC designed with gamers in mind. Launched at EGX 2018, gamers can come and experience it’s awesome performance powered by Intel 8th Generation Core i7 processor.”

The computer is available for purchase for the price of £1499.99, and has these specifications:

  • Unlocked Intel core i7-8700K processor
  • Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB Graphics Card
  • 16GB RAM
  • 2TB HDD
  • 256 Intel NVMe SSD
  • Realtek Gigabit LAN
  • 2 x 2 AC Wifi

Nick Hayden, Head of Gaming for Currys PC World added: “This is the beginning of an exciting journey for ESL Certified Esports PC and we are delighted to be involved, bringing true esport hardware to the UK. The ESL PC will deliver a non-compromising experience fine-tuned and benchmarked to fulfill all players ambitions.

Esports Insider says: Esports-specific computing equipment seems to be the way to go in the future for gaming hardware companies, and it’s a big deal that ESL UK has jumped head-first into providing such a thing with Currys PC World. The price won’t be affordable for all, but that’s the case for all high-spec gaming computers.
