The Top 10 Thai finalists in four award categories have been announced by SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference 2018 organisers, MMC Sportz.

The list includes the Best Esports Event of the Year (Asia) supported by Esports Insider. SPIA Asia will take place 19 & 20 November at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld and Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented at the Awards Gala, attended by more than 400 industry leaders from Asia and beyond, on the evening of 20th November.

With many great esports tournaments taking place in Asia this year the judging for the best event was a demanding task. As a result, we asked for some community feedback via an online vote which reached over 20,000 people. While the vote will not decide the eventual winner, it will aid us in narrowing down the top three events and the overall winner.

Below are the top ten events which were shortlisted and were open to community voting. This year Asia had a plethora of events once again establishing the region as a leader in the industry.

Shortlist for Best Esports Event of the Year (Asia)

With technology and innovation at the heart of sports today, esports is explored in depth at SPIA Asia’s conference with AirAsia taking the lead in a keynote and Esports Insider leading a panel with key industry experts. Furthermore, the trends of Blockchain, innovation at big sports events, smart stadiums, the role of virtual advertising in sports will be discussed across the event. Twitter, LinkedIn and Visa will all share insights on social media’s move into sports broadcast with specific reference to the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia and the 2019 Winter Olympics.

“The level of Thai sports businesses and brands continues to grow with many world-class and with an international presence. The shortlisting process has been very rigorous with the final round of judging taking place on 19th November. All winners will then be announced at the Awards Gala on 20th November and beamed lived to millions of viewers on our Twitter live feed,” commented Mr. Eric M. Gottschalk, CEO of MMC Sportz, organizer of SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference.
