All FIFA Ultimate Team players received a free pack containing all 13 special edition esports jerseys on November 1st.

The teams that will get their own in-game jerseys are as follows:

  • Vitality
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Envy
  • SK Gaming
  • Scarz
  • Rogue
  • Newbee
  • Natus Vincere
  • MKERS
  • Millenium
  • Mad Lions
  • Hashtag United
  • FUTWIZ

The selection of organisations and teams come from a variety of regions and countries, meaning you can represent your area pretty well. The selection includes competitors from Japan, France, the Netherlands, the United States of America, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Ukraine, Italy, and Spain.

This announcement follows soon after two major football competitions entered esports in a big way. The Premier League previously announced the ePremier League, an esports tournament involving all of the 20 teams that compete in the top flight of English football. The Superliga competition followed with the eSuperliga, another FIFA 19 competition that will involve the teams from the top Danish league.

The biggest competition in FIFA esports is undoubtedly the FIFA eWorld Cup, in which the aforementioned tournaments act as official qualifiers.

Esports Insider says: The rise of in-game items representing actual esports teams is on the rise, and it’s good to see EA Sports get involved in this trend with FIFA 19. The likes of PUBG introduced in-game hoodies around the time of its landmark PUBG Global Invitational event earlier this year, for example. Of course it’s a shame that more organisations and squads aren’t represented at this point, but it’s early days so if this is received well then who knows what’ll happen in the future! Perhaps a revenue-sharing initiative would be a good inclusion in the future if more jerseys are rolled out.
