Disneyland Paris has appointed elytics as its analytics data partner for the Dota 2 Major.
elytics is using AI and machine-learning logo detection software, as well as PR & social media crawling, to monitor the impact of the event – as well as the visibility of the brands that sponsored it.
Gaming chair brand Secretlab, gaming monitor manufacturer AOC, and business intelligence enterprise SAP all sponsored the recent Dota 2 Major. Hosted at the Disney Events Arena in Paris, the event distributed its total prize pool of $1 million (£778,380) among 16 teams.
Aymeric Magne, Director of Disneyland Paris Event Group, discussed the deal in a release: “Disneyland® Paris will host the best teams in the world for nine days promising our visitors a spectacular one-of-a-kind experience. This new event will further consolidate Disneyland Paris’s position as a go-to destination for live events as well as a major esports partner in Europe.”
The MDL Disneyland Paris Major was the fourth Major in the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit, following on from The Kuala Lumpur Major, The Chongqing Major, and DreamLeague Season 11. Team Secret took home the championship, receiving $350,000 and 4,950 DPC Points to further cement its invite to The International 9, starting August 15th.
It’s becoming increasingly common with the influx of non-endemic brands to see companies use sponsorship valuation companies to monitor and gauge the return on investment as brands seek reliable data from activations. Disneyland are undoubtedly not the first, nor will they be the last to use a service such as that provided by elytics.
Esports Insider says: We see major companies sponsor events all the time, but we never hear of the impact and ROI. While we don’t expect elytics to make the data public, it’s cool to see the ways in which it measures those factors.
