DreamHack, in partnership with CORSAIR, Esport-Management, and Monster Energy has announced the 12th season of CORSAIR DreamLeague.
The tournament will take place during the debut of DreamHack Rotterdam at the Rotterdam Ahoy on October 18-20. The CORSAIR DreamLeague Season 12 will feature a $250,000 (£196550) prize pool, with additional information on teams and tournament format set to be announced soon.
“It’s exciting to follow up last seasons grand event in Stockholm with shipping the DreamLeague experience to a new country,” said, DreamHack Co-CEO Marcus Lindmark.
“DreamHack Rotterdam will serve as the perfect setting for CORSAIR DreamLeague Season 12 with thousands of esports and gaming fans gathering at the Rotterdam Ahoy for the three-day festival.”
For the second time since it’s debut season, CORSAIR DreamLeague will travel outside of Sweden, following the Season 7 finals in Atlanta, USA. Last year, CORSAIR DreamLeague celebrated ten seasons by hosting its second DPC Minor. The tournament which took place in Stockholm saw Chinese team Vici Gaming beat Virtus.pro to take home the trophy.
Jolanda Jansen, CEO Rotterdam Ahoy, said: “We are very excited to host the 12th season of the Dota 2 tournament in Rotterdam Ahoy. It is the first time that such a major Dota tournament is coming to the Benelux. It fits our ambition to become the number one esports and gaming festival in our country.
“It will surely attract additional fans; the league is a great expansion for our event for which we earlier announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tournament.”
Esports Insider says: It’s great to see that the CORSAIR DreamLeague is once again expanding outside of Sweden. The Rotterdam Ahoy has already played host to multiple esports tournaments this year, so there is no doubt the crowd will be insane. We look forward to seeing what teams will be heading to Rotterdam.
