OverActive Media adds Robin Brudner and Wade Oosterman to board

OverActive Media – the parent company of Splyce, Toronto Defiant, MAD Lions E.C., and OAM LIVE – has added two executives to its board of directors.

Robin Brudner, previously of Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment and Canadic Olympic Committee, and Wade Oosterman, Vice Chair and Group President at Bell Canada have boarded the company.

Chris Overholt, President and CEO at OverActive Media discussed the additions to the board: “Robin and Wade are without a doubt two of Canada’s most-respected business and sports executives. Adding their vast experience and counsel to our Board furthers our commitment to continue building the most professional esports and entertainment company in the world. On behalf of our entire organization, I’d like to welcome both Robin and Wade to our expanding OAM family.”

OverActive Media announced a deal with Canadian telecommunications company Bell in June, allowing it to acquire a minority interest in the company and act as its founding marketing partner.

Oosterman commented: “I’m honoured to join OverActive Media’s Board of Directors at a time of such positive momentum for the company and the esports community. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and the OAM team to accelerate OverActive’s esports leadership in Canada and internationally.”

OverActive Media has expanded over the past few months by acquiring esports events company MediaXP and Spanish organisation MAD Lions E.C., as well as adding Grammy Award-winning record artist Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye to its ownership group.

Esports Insider says: It’s clear that both Brudner and Oosterman are massively experienced in business at high levels but esports is a different beast. We’re sure that these additions will help OAM to be forward-thinking but it’s important that ideas make sense within the early stages of this industry.
