Data-driven team-finding application Teams.gg has officially launched.
The platform initially supports players on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, allowing them to find players who are like-minded and on a similar skill level.
Teams.gg is said to prioritise quality over quantity when it comes to connecting players, using a two-way matching system that utilises a number of factors to identify good matches.
James Duffield, Co-founder of Teams.gg told Esports Insider: “We’d love to see teams at competitions all over the world that were formed on Teams.gg and grew together using our future tools to schedule, scrim and develop. We had the time of our lives competing together at events. This is about making sure everyone and anyone can experience that.”
Teams.gg aims to build a suite of tools across a number of titles, though Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the only game to be supported from launch. There’s no word on which other titles will join the platform in the future at the time of writing.
Duffield departed Twitch on August 2nd after being there for almost five years. Initially starting as Custom Solutions Manager in November 2014, he moved on to become a Senior Creative Producer from January 2018 until his departure. Joining Duffield as Co-founder of Teams.gg are Tom Russell and Stuart Crouchman.
Esports Insider says: Teams.gg isn’t the only platform that provides this service but it’s not unfair to say that none of its competitors have nailed the formula and service just yet. Competition breeds improvement and with Duffield’s experience, we’re excited to see how the platform develops over time.
