BLAST Pro Series is taking its 2019 Global Final to Bahrain with a total prize pool of $500,000 (£401,225).
The event will take place on December 13-14th, acting as the culmination of this year’s circuit.
Robbie Douek, CEO of BLAST Pro Series discussed the decision in a release: “Bahrain is the perfect place to hold the 2019 Global Final. There is already a strong and engaged base of fans, an emerging scene of talented young players, and a country famed for its welcoming hospitality. We will be bringing four of the world’s best teams to battle it out for the chance to be crowned Champion.”
The event will include four teams, each of which will have earned their spot in the tournament throughout the annual circuit. OMEN by HP, Betway, Twitch, and CS:Money are all global series partners for 2019.
H.E. Ayman Tawfiq Almoayyed, Bahrain’s Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs also commented: “Esports is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. Bahraini’s are passionate fans and players, and we are excited by the opportunity to bring this world-class tournament to the Kingdom. We look forward to hosting the teams and their fans from around the world, and building a lasting legacy for the sport in Bahrain and beyond.”
BLAST Pro Series Moscow will take place on September 13-14th, leading into the final stop before the Grand Final, BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, on November 1st-2nd.
Esports Insider says: We can’t say we aren’t baffled by this decision. If BLAST is simply trying to do something different then that’s understandable but this seems like a really peculiar choice. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes before we can really judge, of course.
