Australian esports tournament platform Mogul has announced the Magic: The Gathering Arena Mogul Championship 2019, with prize winnings of over AU $50,000 (£27,404) up for grabs.

Mogul has partnered with Wizards of the Coast to make the event happen.

Mark Warburton, Chief Marketing Officer at Mogul commented in a release: “Wizards of the Coast is a great addition to Mogul’s partner roster and we’re delighted to offer our innovative platform features to the championship. We look forward to developing more opportunities with Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro as our platform continues to expand and delight players.”

The championship will officially kick off on October 7th and run until November 22nd, with players taking part in a defend ladder format. Playoffs will follow the initial head-to-head stage, leading to the grand finals.

Wilkin Chan, Regional Marketing Manager APAC at Wizards of the Coast added: “We are thrilled to have Mogul as a partner as we continue to increase competitive play opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. This partnership with Mogul opens up new horizons of what we can offer our players and we hope our ANZ fans are as excited as we are about this additional way to engage with Magic: The Gathering Arena.”

This is the latest in a string of announcements from Mogul. In August, Mogul announced a partnership with esports organisation and venue operator SARENA to help it expand into the Middle Eastern market. The tournament platform announced in May that it had raised AU $3.1 million (£1.63M) through its latest share placement.

Esports Insider says: Magic: The Gathering still has a fairly small esports scene so it’s always great to see new tournament announcements such as this. With a decent prize pool on the line, we have no doubt that the tournament will attract a good number of players from the ANZ Region.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
