Nike debuts team kits for League of Legends Pro League

Nike has unveiled the official kits for the 16 teams that compete in the League of Legends Pro League (LPL).

The deal was first announced back in February with a four-year partnership being penned between Nike and LPL organiser TJ Sports. Nike became the league’s official apparel and footwear partner.

All jerseys have a similar design, with the Nike logo on the right side and a team logo on the left; each also features a chevron pattern on the chest. Invictus Gaming has a single gold star above its team logo to represent its victory at last year’s World Championship, too.

The three LPL representatives at the World Championship – Invictus Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, and Royal Never Give Up – will don their kits at the event, starting October 2nd.

At the time of the partnership being announced, Eric Wei, Vice President, Category Marketing at Nike in Greater China, had this to say: “We are very excited to support LPL teams and players with ground-breaking esports game-day gear and training programs that will help unleash their full potential.”

Nike entered another esports partnership earlier this year, forging a multi-year deal with Brazilian organisation FURIA. It debuted its new Nike-emblazoned jersey at ESL One Cologne in July, just a week after announcing the partnership.

Esports Insider says: The unified kits across the league is a great touch from Nike and the LPL, with enough attention paid to each side to make its individual kits unique enough to stand out. It’s worth noting that no sponsors are featured on the jerseys, this is a curious move that will surely be rectified at a later date unless publicly-unknown rules have been enforced.
