Riot Games has partnered with Redd+E to distribute the broadcast rights for the Pacific Championship Series in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The series is “a merged evolution of the League of Legends Master Series (LMS) and League of Legends Southeast Asia Tour (LST)” and was first unveiled in December.

Redd+E, an esports-focused subsidiary of Singapore-based marketing agency Reddentes Sports, will work alongside the developer to distribute broadcasting rights in English, Mandarin, and Thai.

Chris Tran, Country Manager, SEA at Riot Games commented on the launch in a release: “Now entering our 10th year of professional esports, the time is perfect to launch the Pacific Championship Series. The PCS combines some of our largest communities to create an exciting regional league with multi-city representation.”

The first broadcast of the Pacific Chapionship Series will take place on February 8th. The league will feature a best-of-one format with double-elimination playoffs. 10 teams will be chosen to compete, though only nine have been announced so far: Hong Kong Attitude, J Team (Taipei), Liyab Esports (Philippines), Nova Esports (Thailand), ahq eSports Club (Taipei), Alpha Esports (Taipei), G-Rex Gaming (Hong Kong), Resurgence (Singapore) and Talon (Hong Kong). The final team will be announced “in the near future.”

Mark Chew, Managing Director of Reddentes Sports stated: “With millions of LoL players in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, LoL fans can expect to watch some of the best players in action in the 2020 Pacific Championship Series. We’re excited to work alongside Riot Games to identify partners that can enhance this experience for fans.”

Esports Insider says: Although server statistics show that the PCS covers some of the strongest regions for Riot Games’ global player base, it has been some time since that popularity translated to esports success. All eyes are sure to be on the initial year of the PCS after the demise of the LMS and LST, so finding the right broadcast partners for the 2020 season is vital if Riot wishes to reignite growth in the region.
