Philadelphia-based Nerd Street Gamers has announced the appointment of Tucker Roberts to its board of directors.
Roberts currently serves as the President of Philadelphia Fusion, the Overwatch League franchise owned by Comcast Spectacor – a company that invested in Nerd Street Gamers back in June 2018.

Roberts, the son of Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, joined Comcast Spectacor in 2017 as a strategic advisor. He was named President of Philadelphia Fusion in the following year and also holds the same title in Comcast Spectacor’s gaming division, Spectator Gaming.
Roberts commented on the decision in a release: “Nerd Street Gamers has a strong vision for the development of gaming infrastructure across the U.S. The company is growing a community that connects gamers from all walks of life, while providing an amateur talent pipeline to the pro-gaming ranks.”

Nerd Street Gamers has made a series of announcements in the past few months. This year alone, at the time of writing, it has partnered with PlayVS and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, tapped Populous to design its Localhost facilities, announced Los Angeles as an upcoming destination, and taken on the responsibility of production for Philadelphia Fusion’s homestand weekends.
John Fazio, Founder and CEO of Nerd Street Gamers, also spoke on the appointment: “Tucker is an invaluable addition to our team as we grow esports infrastructure across the nation. We recognize the opportunities presented to traditional sport athletes and share the vision of a future where competitive gamers have access to the same level of leagues, facilities, scholarships, education and careers.

Esports Insider says: Nerd Street Gamers and Philadelphia Fusion have a closer relationship than many realise due to Comcast Spectacor link. In recent months, we’ve seen NSG lean into that more and this is further proof of that. The future genuinely seems bright for NSG, and Roberts is rapidly gaining experience in multiple facets of esports and gaming, so this seems like a good fit.
