Arsenal partners with EGL to manage PES esports team for second year

Esports Entertainment Group has announced that its online tournament provider, broadcaster, and event organiser Esports Gaming League (EGL) will manage the Pro Evolution Soccer team belonging to English football club Arsenal FC.

The team will be participating in the third season of the eFootball League alongside nine other clubs.

The two parties first collaborated in 2019 where EGL recruited prospective players to represent the Gunners in the eFootball League. The team competed against the likes of FC Bayern Munich, AS Monaco, Manchester United, and Juventus as part of the league organised by Pro Evolution Soccer developer Konami.

Glen Elliot, CEO of EGL, commented on the renewal in a release: “Arsenal came within one point of Knockout Stage contention in their inaugural season last year, and we’re excited to see what happens this season.”

Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment Group, also spoke on the partnership: “Arsenal recognises the value of EGL’s wealth of experience in esports, and so do we. We look forward to completing the EGL acquisition and integrating Glen and his team’s expertise into our organisation.

“Their work with Arsenal and many others, similar to deals we announced with the LA Galaxy, Philadelphia Union, and more, provides a strong foothold in major sporting which continues to turn to esports as a way for teams to connect and engage fans.”

Esports Insider says: EGL has a wealth of experience in multiple areas of the industry. Considering that it managed Arsenal’s esports efforts for the last 12 months, it’s not surprising to see EGL continuing to do so for another 12 months.
