Technology corporation MSI has partnered with esports sponsorship marketplace Uconnect Esports to launch a collegiate esports programme for 2021.
The MSI Student programme will support collegiate esports events, organisations, and on-campus esports facilities. Addiotnaly, the initiative will include a paid broadcasting internship, allowing students to work on professional events alongside industry mentors.
“MSI is committed to providing resources towards the academic and professional development of students,” commented Cat Tompkins, Program Manager of Esports and Education at MSI in a release. “We are pleased to partner with Uconnect Esports to ensure that esports programmes and the students they support will have the tools to develop and grow their programmes.”
Together with the programme, MSI is also launching the MSI Student Discord, with the server seen as the first stage in its scholastic programme efforts. Following the sponsorship of Uconnect’s digital esports summit, Collegiate Rising Winter, the new Discord server will be hosting the event’s Career Fair on January 9th.
This is not MSI’s first collegiate partnership with the firm also operating another programme, titled MSI Collegiate, with UCLA Esports and USC Games. Moreover, the company sponsors esports at the University of Missouri and Harrisburg University.
Dylan Liu, CEO of Uconnect Esports added: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with a company with so many established ties and amazing initiatives in the collegiate space. MSI has ambitious plans for their support of collegiate esports moving forward and we’re honoured to be a close partner in building MSI Student.”
According to the release, Uconnect’s network consists of over 200 collegiate esports and gaming organisations across North America. Last year, the firm introduced a collegiate initiative in collaboration with Cloud9 and formed a number of other partnerships with entities such as Twitch Student, HyperX and DreamHack.
Esports Insider says: Uconnect has been doing an excellent job in providing students with opportunities to explore and flourish their esports potential and MSI is seemingly committed to the ideology. The work of both organisations is admirable and continues to develop this segment of the esports industry.
